“Living My Dream”

“I finally have time to write about themes I care about.”

Sandra writes both fiction and nonfiction. Her concern about teens and prescription drugs inspired her to write The Rabbit Trap to alert teens and their parents about the perils of using prescription drugs as entertainment.

She has worked in politics, education, and broadcast media. Her first novel, The Rabbit Trap, was awarded an honorable mention by the Edward Hoffer Award in 2007. She has attended The Midwest Writers and the Central Ohio Fiction Writers Conferences. She is a member of the Ohio Writers Association and Pitch 2 Publish, an international writing organization. More magazine published her article, “Ziplining in Costa Rica,” in 2008.

After teaching for thirty-one years, Sandra retired from teaching English and Communications at the high school level and is an adjunct professor at Capital University. Time Warner awarded her Teacher of the Year in 2006 and 2008. During her tenure, the Television Academy of Arts and Science awarded Sandra and her students 12 High School Awards of Excellence.

Sandra continued to be concerned about teens and prescription drugs and in 2020, launched Downward Spiral (formerly The Rabbit Trap). In 2021, Ohioana Library featured Downward Spiral in its 15th Anniversary Festival. Sandra promotes her message and novel at book signings, clubs, and conferences.
