Another Epidemic Is Still Raging

It’s hard to concentrate on anything but this coronavirus, but I am still concerned with the epidemic of opiates.

“Drug-overdose deaths in Franklin County are at their highest ever, the county coroner says, pushing the morgue to capacity and leading her to consider opening a temporary morgue to handle the overflow.” This article appeared in the Columbus Dispatch on February 12th.

On April 4th, the Franklin County Coroner’s office reported12 suspected overdose deaths in 48 hours. (10TV.com) Drug addiction does not go away because the virus is raging. From what I have seen on Twitter, teens are still meeting. I don’t see they will stop vaping or risking their lives if they were already. They will find new ways to do so. Their unsuspecting parents who are trying to balance working at home are overtaxed with jobs now that have no time boundaries.

There are many ways for people to obtain what they need—the same with teens. Many devices have been invented to hide stashes. Be on the lookout for cans or bottles that look like they are mislabeled. Check any prescription drugs in your house. Count the pills. If you even suspect some are missing, lock them up. If you know someone who is having problems, have Narcan (naloxone) Nasal Spray on hand.
